Polka Dot Theme Wedding

When asked to create a modern, fun loving environment that was a polka-dot theme for a recent wedding I did, I was excited. Excited that they chose me, excited about the theme, & excited that they trusted me completely to do whatever I wanted to (with in their budget). I wanted the polka-dot theme to show through, but not in a huge literal way, sure I could have done the polka-dot ribbon on all kinds of vases & polka dot table runners & much more, but instead I decided to give them the modern day approach & give them their theme but not exactly literal. Take a look & see what you think about what I created.

Ballerina Bash

Anytime I have a chance to do an fun, creative event - I am all over it! My children's birthday parties are just that for me - fun, creative, and custom to what they like that particular year.

My daughter says that when she grows up she wants to be a ballerina & Dora the Explorer, so I decided to throw her a ballerina bash & it turned out fabulous in her mind & that is all that matters to me.

For the food & drinks everything was pink & purple (her two favorite colors) of course. Consisting of Kool-Aid cookies, cupcakes, a ballerina cake, marshmallows dipped in frosting & covered in sprinkles, pink bubble gum, and of course "pink" hot dogs and much more.

For drinks we had a beautiful pink punch & also strawberry milk available & you can choose either mason jars or pink cups to drink from.

Decorations consisted of me hand sewing a lot of tutu's. We had dolls for each little girl to play with that all needed tutu's plus multiple tutu's around for extra decorations. I made a tutu wreath, a paper ballerina banner type decoration, had a pair of ballerina shoes & a few pink ballerina outfits around with the tables covered in - you guessed it pink table cloths :)

Besides all the girls playing ballerina with their dolls we also had them make them own edible necklaces. We used twizzlers pull & peel as the necklace with many goodies to adorn the necklaces with like fruit loops, yogurt covered pretzels, cheerios, apple jacks, fruity life savers & another circle graham cracker cookie. I forgot to get a picture of the girls making their necklaces, but here my daughter is getting the station ready before everyone arrives.

Always like to give out favors with my children's parties so for this party it was only appropriate that we gave each girl a homemade tutu, nail polish, chap stick & a cute hair tie. They were soooo cute & fit the theme perfectly!

Hope you enjoyed our ballerina bash. Dance like no one is watching.

Ceiling Decor

Via Forever Fresh
When you walk into a wedding reception & the ceiling is decorated either with soft, romantic fabric, glamorous lights, chandeliers, lanterns, grape vine balls, pomanders or a combination of a couple of these it takes your breath away. People have ceiling decor for various types of reasons: to cover the venues ceiling &/or walls to transform the venue, to add romance to the venue, to bring the room down in size & make everything proportionate, whatever the reason may be, it never goes unnoticed!

Strike A Pose! Continuing Trend into 2013

Have you ever attend a wedding reception gone to cocktail  or social hour & you just kinda feel like there isn't a lot to do, so you are just kinda hanging out until the supper & dance starts? Well we have just the thing for you! Entertaining your guests is a HUGE part of every wedding - you want your guests to go away from your event saying "this was the best ever" or "I haven't had this great of a time at a wedding in a long time." Let's face it you want your guests to remember your event & be the first thing people think of when they hear the word wedding - fun, eventful, memorable, & beautiful!

Photo booths used to be used more so for the birthday party & high school type of events, but why not have them at your wedding? They are fun & entertaining! Photo booths showed up at weddings in our area about 2 yrs ago & have become very popular. They are great to use as favors for your guests or just to add that extra fun to the night to keep your guests engaged & socializing.

Now you can either hire a professional company that specializes in photo booths for you, see if your photographer offers some type of photo booth thing (as many do now), or you can create your own photo booth -adding personality & charm to your event.

The newest Trend right now is the DIY photo booth & we love this concept! I mean the possibilities are endless, you can create it for next to no money, you get to be creative, it will be one-of-a-kind & guests will feel more connected to you & your event.

Make it as fun, silly or chic as you want all these are found Via Pinterest

Pillow Case Dress Tutorial

Let me start off by saying that I am NOT a sewer by any means, but I do like to dabble in all aspects of crafting. I seen many cute little dresses that I thought looked & sounded easy enough to give it a try, so I decided to give it a try for some Easter gifts for some pretty cute little girls that I know :) If you search Pillow Case Dress Tutorial on the web there are MANY different versions out there to pick from - I tend to find many tutorials and piece them together in a way I feel might work & make them my own.

I am going to try & tell & show you how I made my pillowcase dresses & each of them are all a bit different, but again WARNING: I AM NOT A SEWER BY ANY MEANS so please excuse the pictures & my bad sewing job, but hey it got he job done :)

Supplies needed:
Fabric(s) of desired length (depending on what size you want to make it) I used actual pillow cases
Scissors
Pins
No Sew Hemming Tape
Iron
Ribbon

For my dresses I was making 4T & 5T size dresses but here is an actual size chart if you would like :)

Step One: Cutting your fabric
Take your pillow case that you will be using for the main color of the dress & cut the already sewn together top straight across the top.

Step Two:
Cut straight across what I am going to call the bottom of the pillow case where the hemmed edge is at. Now you should have a a big tube of fabric - this will be the main part of the dress.

Step Three:
Now on that tube of fabric cut down one stitched side & cut the existing stitch of the pillow case off, so it is now one long wide piece of fabric (with one stitch still in the long piece of fabric).

Step Four:
Take your second fabric (or pillow case) that you would like to use for an accent piece on the bottom of the dress. Cut a strip that is 1 1/2" wide. If you are using a pillow case as I did again cut one of the already stitched sides off, & also cut a 1 1/2" X 30" long piece of fabric.

Step Five:
Take your third fabric (or pillow case) that you would like to use for the very bottom on the dress. Cut a strip that is 3" wide & again cut one side of the stitched pillow case off if you are using a pillow case.

Here is a look at the three pieces now cut.
I am not a straight cutter at all so I decided to use this no sew hem tape across the top & bottom of all 3 pieces of fabric to create a straight edge.

Step Six:
Place the no sew hem tape across the top of the first piece of fabric & do as the directions on the no sew hem tape indicate - lay it down straight across the top of the fabric & iron it down. The white part of the tape should be facing up.

Step Seven:
Use your finger nails to rip off the WHITE part of the hem tape, leaving the clear part of the tape on your fabric

Step Eight:
Take your raw edge & fold it up over the tape & iron it down. You now have a hemmed straight edge & it was super easy!

This is my third fabric that will be the bottom of the dress with the "hemmed" edge facing the left & the raw edge facing the right - see the difference?
Step Nine:
Repeat steps 6-8 for both the top & bottom of all three of your fabrics.

Now that you have the 3 fabric pieces prepped, we get to actually start get to start assembling the dress :)
